About us

The Community Gym: Strength. Community. Progress.

Most gyms are built for people who already feel comfortable in them.

People who know what they’re doing.
People who enjoy training.
People who feel like they belong there.

That works — if you’re one of those people.

But a lot of people aren’t.

And that’s where The Community Gym started.

Where this came from

Before this, I worked in sports development.

The focus wasn’t on how people looked. It was about using sport to build confidence, develop skills, and help people move forward in their lives.

That stuck with me.

Because it showed me that exercise can be part of something bigger than just “getting fit.”

But when I moved into the fitness industry, it felt very different.

A lot of gyms were built around image.
Or intensity.
Or the idea that you should already enjoy training.

And if you didn’t, you were left to figure it out on your own.

What it actually feels like

“Community” gets used a lot.

But here, it’s something you notice straight away.

People talk to each other.
They support each other.
They remember exactly what it felt like to be new.

There’s no pressure to keep up.
No feeling of being judged.
No sense that you’re on your own.

The closest comparison isn’t another gym.

It’s more like being sat around a table at Sunday lunch — or in a pub with people you’re comfortable around.

You train.
You improve.
But you also enjoy being there.

And that’s what keeps people coming back.

Not everyone feels like they belong

I never really fit that environment myself.

I’m not big on social media.
I don’t look like a fitness model.
I just enjoy training — and spending time talking to people.

And over time, I realised something simple:

Most people don’t walk into a gym feeling confident.

They walk in thinking:

  • “I don’t know what I’m doing.”

  • “Everyone’s probably watching me.”

  • “I’m already behind.”

That feeling alone is enough to stop people coming back.

Not because they don’t care.
But because the environment never gave them a chance to settle in.

Why The Community Gym exists

The Community Gym was built to change that.

Not by making training easier.
But by making the space feel different from the moment you walk in.

It’s a place where you don’t have to prove anything.

You don’t need experience.
You don’t need confidence.
You don’t need to “fit in.”

Because most people here didn’t feel like they fit in anywhere else either.

If you’re unsure about gyms

If you’ve never really felt comfortable in a gym before, you’re not alone.

And this probably won’t feel like what you’re expecting.

The simplest way to understand it is just to come and try it.

Your first session is free.

No pressure. No expectations.

Just come in, meet people, and see how it feels.
